Costa Rica, Rich Coast, it's name does not deceive. Tropical beaches, coffee plantations, mountain top rain forest reserves, active volcanoes, butterflies, birds, monkeys and most of all, friendly people. Eco-Adventure at a really affordable price and while your there, throw in a Caribbean style beach vacation.
One of our favorite itineraries is to fly into San Jose, the capitol city in the center of the country, with flights through Miami and Houston. Transfer or drive a 4 X 4 to the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Stay, relax and mingle with butterflies and Tree Sloths, stroll the sky bridges or ride a zip-line from tree to tree. Then four wheel it down the mountains, ferry across the lake and settle into a spot to watch the volcano spit fire, or soak in a natural hot spring. Travel West across desert cactus lands to the Flamingo Coast where Pacific waves crash on tropical beaches. Sun, sail, surf and relax or go wild on an ATV mud run. Explore volcanic hot springs and mud baths, watch turtles lay eggs or hatch on the beach, snooze in a hammock while exotic birds flutter about. Depart from this paradise at the nearby Liberia airport with direct flights to Houston and Miami, no need to trek all the way back to the capitol just to fly home.
