Welcome to the Amtrak Page

Amtrak, service is better than you might think, if you've never tried it.  One of my favorites is to fly to Denver and get a sleeper to Sacramento.  This trip is great fun, winding high up into the Rocky Mountains, through 50 some odd tunnels, one is about 5-miles long and has great doors on ether end to keep wildlife out.  Mountain meadows and rocky peaks turn to river gorge as the train, Interstate 70, the Colorado River and somehow a bike path all squeeze into Glenwood Springs, what engineering.

Sunset, tablecloth dinner on the high plateaus of Utah, the food is quite good and then there's nothing like sleeping on a gently rocking train.  Enjoy a leisurely breakfast as the dusty mountains of central and western Nevada roll by.  A short stop in Reno "The Biggest Little City," luncheon in the High Sierra and scenic Donner Pass before descending onto the golden grasslands of north central California and into the beautiful shaded city of Sacramento.

Amtrak has many really scenic routes in America.  In the East is the Adirondack, which runs between New York City and Montreal Canada.  This route follows the Hudson River and Lake Champlain
